2nd Hussars

Just finished these guys, again I've taken a liberty or two with the campaign trousers - these were generally brown, same colour as the pelisse. However, to add a bit colour I've made them light blue along with a blue tip for the plumes. Again, their hungarian breeches were blue but these were only worn with the riding boots.

7th Hussars

I tried painting a gloss enamel varnish over the fogged out troopers but to no avail - so I just ended up spending about 2-3 hours repainting the worst of it. They dont look too bad, and next time I'll be more wary on how and when I spray varnish!

I took some liberties with the campaign trousers, these should be green with a yellow stripe. However, I felt this would make them a bit too similar to the chassuers a' cheval so to make them more colourful and distinctive I painted them red with a yellow stripe. In all fairness they did wear hungarian breeches that were red, but these were normally with the fancy boots.

GW varnish problem

Finished the 7th hussars last night and tried to varnish them using GW spray varnish. Unfortunately, this stuff is a lot more delicate than my usual vallejo spray and didn't take to the cold and a bit damp conditions last night. The result was horrible, the figures appear to be coated in a frost or foggy material. I found out from various sources that this is wax used in satin/matte sprays and cold/damp conditions bring it in. I should have just sprayed one figure with it being an unfamiler product - but there you go.

I'm trying one peice of advice which is the technqiue of using enamel gloss on the affected figures, leave to dry and then cover with a matte spray. I'm part way through this on one figure, just waiting for gloss coat to dry. However, I couldn't stand the wait and have repainted the most affected bits of the remaining 11 figures.

I dont know if you can make out the 'frost' from the pictures. But on the milk bottle tops its quite noticable. My fault but I'm bloody annoyed!

Some more Dragoons!

Well, finished off the two regiments with red facings this time, a week and a bit late. As you can see from the black primed photo more Dragoons(24) to be painted with yellow facings and some Hussars await (24), these will be the 2nd and 7th french Hussars.
