I had intended to complete my 36 man battalion tonight but got pressganged into moving the furniture in my daughters bedroom. However, here are a few shots of progress to date.
Question: there is an item of kit on the soldiers just below the cartridge box on the front of the figures, I cant make out what is and so cant figure out how to paint it. It looks too small to be a water bottle but...
Anyway, the elegant chap in the sky blue coat is myself (Viscount Gascoigne of Gateshead) and the other mounted commander is Major Newkey Broon.
The chaps faces are rather, how can I put it - full of character but as long as they can fight who really cares?
Really nice work Ken,
ReplyDeleteVery cool painting. Will there be a 5 bellies figure in the guard? Or is it a different Gascoigne family tree altogether? :-)
Are you giving up on Naps totally or is this just a little diversion?
Cheers
Paul
Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteAs you suspect this is just a diversion to do with the game at Ayton (see previous post). The unkind may refer to me as five bellies although I believe it time and money well invested!
I dont think I'll be giving up the 15mm but I could get hooked on 28mm for the odd unit fora team collaboration.
Cheers
Ken
Hi Ken,
ReplyDeleteSo I am barking up the wrong family tree?
Are you any relation to the once great Spurs, Newcastle, Rangers and Napoli player (not to mention England) or is Gascoigne a common name around your parts?
Cheers
Paul
Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteNo relation - with it being an imagination game I just fancied leading a regiment from my hometown of Gateshead. So the name 'Gazza' was the only option as this towns most famous/infamous son!
Cheers
Ken
Nice look Ken !! Compliments
ReplyDeleteAhh,
ReplyDeleteYet another mystery solved! :0)
Sounds like a big project. Look forward to seeing all the different armies together.
Cheers
Paul
P.S. Just received some Grande Army 1812 flags from Flags for the Lads. French, Wurtemburg and Poles. Best flags I have seen in 15mm by a country mile. Beautiful, subtle shading on the flag (even the whites). I think these are brand new? I will post pics as soon as I get a battalion finished or 2 finished (you can see the guard flag and fanion in 1 picture in my last post).
Note: I got some of their Prussian flags and these are just basic and the date on them is 90's. The guy said they are redoing the Russians at the moment so I would guess the Prussians would be next.
Thanks Paul and Carlo.
ReplyDeleteI think there are in the region of 40+ units for the game. Unfortunately, I only had the resources/inclination for one battalion of 36 musketeers - wishing I'd painted at least three battalions now.
Cheers
Ken
