Completed 12 Death's Head hussars, I was a bit apprehensive of painting black uniforms but a bit gray drybrushing seems to have done the trick. Figures by AB, no flags since the hussars didn't carry them. These guys did not take part in the 100 days but played a role in Germany 1813 and then in France 1814. Every Prussian army must have this unit!
An excellently painted unit, whether it fought in the 100 days campaign or not its a damn fine looking unit!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look excellent! Really well done. Black is hard to get right.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Ken,
ReplyDeleteHave these AB figures myself to paint up. Totally agree, no late war Napoleonic Prussian army would look right without them!

Wow very nice! I too have a unit of these in the "Too Paint" part of the collection...does it ever end? lol

Very nice hussars.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out - although as usual I spot mistakes when I see them up on the blog!

That Macro button is a killer Ken ;-)
ReplyDeleteRazor1 a fellow wargamer/figure painting friend of myine said to me when I asked him "when will he have enough 15mm Naps?", He answered me "when he is dead!". He has 12.000 15mm Naps!!!
Somebody on another blog said collecting miniature soldiers like Imelda Marcos and her thousands of shoes - we cant help ourselves. She couldn't wear them all and we couldn't paint them all!!

That's true! But we can always try to paint as many as we can!
ReplyDeleteThese came out very well. The drybrushing did it. Myself I don't paint black uniforms in black but in a very dark grey. Belts and other parts I do in black. I hope to show this in the near future with some Brunswick troops I've painted that way.
Greetings
